+ More information

Description: Cuyama Orchards is family owned and managed apple grower, packer, wholesaler, and direct marketer of delicious, organically grown, heirloom, specialty and cider apples. It’s mission is to utilize the abundant, and yet limited, natural resources available in the headlands of the Cuyama Valley, in harmony with the environment, native plant and animal species, and local communities to create value and share this abundance with its employees, their families, and the public at large. Cuyama Orchards has been a part of the Albano family for over 30 years, with the direct participation of 3 generations of Albanos. The orchards, founded by Howard and Jean Albano on their former Alfalfa farm are surrounded by towering peaks and national forest. At 3300 feet in elevation, and on the interior of the Sierra Madre Coastal mountain range, Cuyama Orchards enjoys ideal weather for growing sweet, crunchy, juicy apples that are bursting with flavor. The warm late fall days and cool crisp nights allow Cuyama Orchards to harvest their fruit with full flavor at the peak of ripeness.

NORTH FORK VINEYARD

Farm

Highway 166
New Cuyama, CA 93254

+ More information

Description: Nestled against the base of the Sierra Madre Mountains at 1800ft elevation, North Fork Vineyard overlooks one of the five widenings in the valley floor where the mountains converge at the west end of Cuyama Valley. Contrasted against the ivory backdrop of Chalk Mountain, North Fork’s green spring and summer canopies and colorful displays in the fall make it a prominent feature when driving along 166. North Fork is situated on part of the original Rancho Cuyama No.2 land grant, whereon early narrative by oil prospector Walter English (1916) describes the Caliente ranch owners planting the property to alfalfa, which continued on and off until the late 1950s. Old farm implements, windmill wells and grazing cattle on the hillsides compliment modern trellising and viticulturists in this unique Santa Barbara farm setting.
